EDITORS NOTE: MARCH

HAPPY WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH!

Ya’ll were complaining about January being long but we’re already in March. How was your February? Did you learn something new? Did you do something lovely for yourself? I hope so!

Okay so originally I was going to write this Editors note a week ago and since then thoughts circling around my mind have changed, mostly because this corona virus has hit the red alert button and it’s polarizing to watch the whole thing unravel on social media while at the same time see children at the playground and adults going for a jog around my block. I think this Tweet really encompasses my current feelings:

With that said, I know that we can very quickly get into gloom mode and I don’t want that to be the case. We all have some form of privilege — whether it’s a salaried job, being able to live at home, or a healthy body. Lets focus on what we have vs what we don’t, and please check in on your family, friends and colleagues. The most important thing during these trying times is community.

In honor of focusing on the good I’m going to share with you the things that are bringing me joy at the moment. If you got a few of your own, send me a tweet @theyariblanco

  1. Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG Album: I feel like an 18 year old in Corona Queens dying for a house party so that I can grind on the cute guy I secretly crushed on from my friends block

  2. Pod Save America Podcast: Making sense of the lunacy that is this election year is hard when you’re semi-new to politics. This podcast makes it make sense. So have at it!

  3. Watching Love is Blind on Netflix: So this show is bonkers and it’s so bad it’s good. I got to conduct a Q/A with Lauren and Cameron (one of the couples) and can confirm they are as lovely in person as they are on the show. So if you’re WHF def add to your list!

  4. Astrology Twitter: It’s a thing and it’s another way to make sense of wtf is happening in the world… I think my Sun in Taurus wants the logical stuff, and my Moon in Pisces wants this.

  5. Learning my moms Sancocho: My mom makes delicious Dominican sancocho which is something I always wanted to learn. She came over this weekend and taught me. It was great to have some QT with her. That link is not her recipe, but at least you know what I’m talking about.

  6. Mint Budget App: In an effort to understand where my money goes and how to be even more budget mindful I got this app. NYC is expensive AF and we can spend without thinking. So far it’s great, and I recommend if you’re in the market.

  7. Canva Stories App: I just discovered this! If you’re trying to spruce up your IG stories and you don’t have 40 hours to design things on photoshop (or know how to use photoshop) this is it!

  8. Vegan Rob’s Beet Puffs: Ya’ll, these are crack. I love them so much. I want them forever.

DASSSSITTTT! Wash your hands and don’t forget to tell the women in your life that you love them and support them. They need you and you need them!
