10 UNCOMPLICATED MOC TO FOLLOW

As part of our conversations this month highlighting men of color, we asked one of our mob contributors Alyssa Jara to share a list of 10 uncomplicated men to follow. The importance of serving the community, pursuing ambitiously creative and professional visions as well as uplifting their female counterparts are what make up the list. It takes a village to make change and we must seek out leaders who fulfill the layers of the change we want to see.

Mel D. Cole

@meldcole: is a super talented photographer - he shares his perspective on recent events and tells a story through all the visuals he posts. He recently led a fund to help Black Frontline Photographers, and plans to organize a grant annually.

DP. Jolly

@dp.jolly: is also an amazing photographer. Recently, in late June, The New York Coalition of One Hundred Black Women hosted a ‘Virtual Role Model Program’ and he was a participant, offering to teach the younger gen his creative knowledge.

Oshane Howard

@oshane.howard: is the founder of @christianbased, a blog aimed to highlight Christian stories, art, and music. His latest editorial series is called ‘Work From Home’. This series covers topics from what it’s like to work from home through this pandemic, to sexism at the corporate level in a workplace.

Josef Adamu

@joesfadamu: is the creative director at Sunday School (@ssunday.co on IG) and leads the editorial series mentioned above, “Work From Home’. His aesthetic is super dope and he wants to share it, too. Every Thursday, he hosts 3 1-on-1 consulting sessions (for free) providing guidance and sharing his creative knowledge!

Rondel Holder

@kingronthedon: is the founder of @soulsociety - a blog that connects an adventurous community through their travels and culture. Since travel isn’t the hottest thing to do right now, he also leaves some great tips on quick getaways if you’re living in NY.

Arius George

@trickshotcop: He’s making a difference around Los Angeles! With recent events around the BLM movement, he has taken to IG to explain why he created the platform he currently has of a 120K+ following, (by being a comedian and amazing basketball player - all in uniform) to do his part in getting rid of the divide that exists between the community and the police.

Kenji Summers

@kenjisummers: if a super cool merch brand, @freepeace.us, with bold statements isn’t reason alone to give him a follow - he also hosts guided meditation and teaches the art of it through his IG Lives.

Timi Adeyeba

@timiadeyeba: Timi Adeyeba is the co-founder of @amplifyafrica - an amazing blog that amplifies voices of Africa and the Diaspora. Checking out his personal account and the blog is a must!

Alex Dion Wilson

@alexdiowilson: is the pastor of @instachurchlive! Need some more positivity on your timeline? He definitely fills his feed with some spiritual healing written on dope visuals - so worth the follow!

Frederick Joseph

@fredtjoseph: is an author worth keeping up with on IG! He’s the founder of @whsorg, a marketing agency focused on supporting marginalized creators and businesses. He’s active on his personal account and engages daily in conversations like standing up for LGBTQIA+ rights and uplifting Black creators. He shares all his thoughts through tweets or IGTV’s and they’re definitely worth the read/watch.
