EDITORS NOTE: NEW DECADE

Happy New Decade MOB!

We are officially in 2020 mode. This feels like a big year doesn’t it? We have a lot to look forward to and a lot to show up for.

On a personal level I started a new role at the end of 2019 and I’m ready to get into the work. It’s a brand new role at the company, which can set my anxiety off if I don’t watch it. I think for us as woc we want to not just meet but exceed expectations and when your role has never been done before you know that there’s the extra responsibility of setting the tone.

I’m also getting married this year! It’s a huge step in my life and In my relationship. I think we (all the people’s) put a lot of pressure on others around the perfect wedding. And forget that there’s a whole marriage to water and tend to. That’s what I care most about tbh. However there is still a wedding to be planned, partied at and celebrated, so I hope to share bits & pieces with you all.

On a less personal note, I’m excited to share that we’ve added some new members to the team! You will get to know them later this month. As the brand grows and evolves I feel grateful for the women by my side that make TGM a success. When you have so many things happening around you, sometimes it’s hard to keep your energy at a level that motivates others. I wouldn’t be able to bring this brand to life it wasn’t for the women who show up to tweet every day, produce our events, design our merch, and give voice to this platform. This year we turn 4! Which makes me feel proud that y’all have stuck around with us for this long. Building something isn’t easy & at times discouraging, but having you as part of our community— our MOB! — makes me want to keep pushing forward. Which is why we’ll be doing a survey via our newsletter to get your feedback overall (we’ve never done this). Your opinions matter & our ears are open. We can’t wait to see the insight you share with us and the change that it brings!

This year, we hope to shake things up and try our hand at different forms of storytelling both on the site & on social media. So if you are interested in becoming a contributor, read below for details! Lastly, we’ll be having our 4th Annual TGM DAY this summer! Stay tuned for a save the date via our newsletter. We want to make it even more accessible so we are working on how to incorporate more ticket tiers as options— no matter how much money you make, you deserve a seat at our table!

As you set out on this new year, I just want to encourage you to be kind to yourself when you’ve made a mistake, as that isn’t what defines you. I want you to practice being present because that moment will pass. And I hope that you show up for your fellow human whether it be in the office, at a protest or (most importantly) at the polls this November.

I raise a glass to you, our reader. Cheers to having faith in that the best is yet to come.
